What is DNAshell® technology?
The DNAshell® technology is based on the encapsulation of DNA that has been purified and dried, inside small hermetically sealed stainless steel capsules designed to exclude all degrading factors such as water, oxygen, and light.
This patented process, developed by Imagene, enables storage of your DNA at room temperature for multiple generations, while ensuring optimal preservation.
What is the technology behind a DNAshell® capsule?
The DNAshell® technology is based on a rigorous containment process, performed in a laboratory, designed to preserve the integrity of your DNA for the very long term.
After purification and dehydration, the DNA is placed in a stainless steel capsule containing a glass insert, under an inert atmosphere (argon/helium with <1 ppm oxygen and water), at an extremely low level of humidity and oxygen (below 1 ppm).
This process ensures total protection against major degrading factors.
The capsule is then hermetically sealed using precision laser welding to avoid heating the sample.
Each capsule is individually tested by helium mass spectrometry to verify its airtightness.
This level of control ensures exceptional stability of the sample without the need for refrigeration or maintenance.
The DNA stability relies not only on dehydration but mainly on protection against degrading factors, guaranteed by DNAshell® technology.
